Today Ivo Ivanov, the CEO of global internet exchange operator DE-CIX, shared his observations from this week’s Mobile World Congress on his blog. This year was not a typical MWC – in summary:
The major focus wasn’t on 6G or convergence, what many people expected from previous shows, but on AI and how to make it actually scalable at network level
A new buzzword was coined - “The Common Cloud” - which refers to operators moving away from siloed environments and toward shared cloud infrastructure to handle AI, IT and network functions.
AI inference, such as analytics and LLMs, will begin to test the limits of public Internet connectivity – what can be done about it?
