FTTH for 5G: the success story of convergence continued

5G and FTTH are two complementary solutions, both relying on the availability of sufficient fibre into almost every street. This offers great opportunities for convergence in fibre rollouts in the coming years.

The  FTTH/5G convergence study  released by the FTTH Council Europe in 2019 revealed that an optimally converged network for FTTH and 5G could eliminate between 65% and 96% of the cost of a standalone fibre network for 5G.

At the FTTH Virtual Conference 2020, the FTTH Council Europe will release an update to last year's study considering the realistic scenario of deploying an FTTH Network first, intended to be 5G ready, but without knowing the exact future locations and fibre needs for the 5G network.

Wondering what we can learn from applying the same methodology to this phased rollout? Curious to know what the recommended spare capacities are in FTTH network to make it 5G ready, even with the uncertainty about what that future 5G network will look like?

Join the launch of the new study on 3 December at the panel session ''Fibre for 5G: a story of convergence''
